Best Beach Holiday In Usa

It took a while but as of November, fully vaccinated tourists from many countries will be allowed to travel to the US again. Here are six places to visit if you are going stateside this winter

For peaks, bison and geysers: Head to the mountain states

Where the great plains meet the Rockies, you'll find plenty of wide-open spaces, with Wyoming and Montana the most sparsely populated states in the US. You may run into groups of tourists in Yellowstone National Park in summer, enjoying the steaming springs and geysers against a dramatic backdrop of mountains, rivers and canyons.

Winter, however, is when you can see the wilderness in all its glory, with the chance of spotting bison, moose and wolves if you take a hike or cross country ski trip through deserted snowy landscapes.

Or check out the 360-degree views from the Big Sky Resort, one of the region's many ski resorts. It's also worth taking a trip to Grand Teton National Park. Other spots open year-round include Bryce Canyon and Zion in Utah or Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado.

Or shop and ski on the East Coast: From New York to New England

The fancy stores have huge glittering snowflakes in their windows, or while some buildings are entirely wrapped in ribbon. New York City goes all out for the Christmas season, with much glitter and sparkle to jolly your seasonal shopping along. You won't want to miss the thousands of lights on the huge Christmas tree at the Rockefeller Center.

You might stay a little longer and head to New England for some skiing, just like the locals do. Stowe, a historic mountain village in Vermont, is famed as the ski capital of the East.

Sun, sand and sea: A warm winter in Florida

If you are travelling from somewhere cold and wet, chances are that things are brighter in Florida, an ideal winter destination. Sunshine is guaranteed, but after summer, you won't have to worry about pesky mosquitos or the stifling humidity. Instead, you can enjoy the many palm tree-lined beaches along the Sunshine State's 2,000-kilometre coastline.

Or hop in a rental car and head for the Everglades National Park or Orlando for the amusement parks. Note that Disney World is celebrating its 50th birthday for 18 months with scores of new shows and attractions.

Head for Hawaii for a South Sea feeling

A Hawaiian holiday is a treat for the senses, with bright colourful leis - or garlands of flowers, surfing and volcanoes. The weather is a big reason for the popularity of the Pacific islands, along with the Polynesian culture. Take surfing lessons at Waikiki Beach, grab your boots and hike across the moon-like lava landscapes or glide past rainforests and waterfalls in a kayak.

Or hop from one island to the next, taking in spectacular coastal roads and cliff landscapes, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and Pearl Harbour on Oahu, Maui, Kaua'i and Hawaii Island.

Jet set and champagne snow: skiing in Aspen

For perfect powder snow, go to Aspen any time between the end of November and mid-April. The Rocky Mountains' dry climate means Clorodao's snow is so fine and light, it's nicknamed "Champagne powder."

The Aspen and Snowmass ski area encapsulates four mountains of 3,000 metres and more, though the measure describes the ski area, not the height of the mountain. That is a lot of space for fans of winter sports, with some 22 square kilometres to explore.

Aspen is one of the US' most legendary ski resorts, and it's where Hollywood legend Gary Cooper learned to ski, for example. Nowadays, stars such as Jack Nicholson or Cameron Diaz come to town for a break, enjoying the Victorian villas, countless art galleries, upscale hotels and luxury boutiques.

45 days of Christmas: Celebrating on Puerto Rico's beaches

Those planning a US trip might forget Puerto Rico but it's the country's largest outlying territory and has a great deal to offer, starting with the world's brightest bioluminescent bay. Take a glass-bottomed boat to enjoy the nocturnal glow if there's enough plankton.

The island also boasts the largest cave network in the western hemisphere, with more than 1,000 underground caves are partly decorated with pre-Columbian rock paintings.

You can take a tropical holiday in Puerto year round but the best time to come is winter, to explore the Caribbean culture's many festivals and traditions.

Puerto Rico is the largest producer of rum in the world, so you might want to raise a glass in San Juan. The capital's colonial old town is a Unesco World Heritage Site and is busy celebrating its 500th anniversary with exhibitions, concerts and festivals through to June 2022.
