A former FBI agent recently said that she believes Brian Laundrie is still alive due to comments made by the Laundrie family attorney, Steven Bertolino.
While appearing on NewsNationNow on Wednesday night, former FBI agent Jennifer Coffindaffer was asked why she believes that Laundrie is receiving help from "allies" and that he is still alive after he has been missing for over a month.
"I believe that because of the amount of time that has gone on and past and he has still remained undetected," Coffindaffer said. "And the attorney has repeatedly said he is representing the family and he is representing Brian Laundrie."
She continued, "You would not represent someone who is not alive."
Bertolino has said that he is representing Laundrie on several occasions including in a statement on September 15, where he explained why Laundrie was not speaking with law enforcement officials about Gabby Petito's disappearance.
"In my experience, intimate partners are often the first person law enforcement focuses their attention on in cases like this and the warning that 'any statement made will be used against you' is true, regardless of whether my client had anything to do with Ms. Petito's disappearance," Bertolino said in the statement.
On September 29, Bertolino told Jossie Carbonare of WBPF 25 News that he has been representing the Laundrie family for 20 years.
In response to the comments made by Coffindaffer on Wednesday, Bertolino said in a statement sent to Newsweek that "Unless I am informed that Brian Laundrie is no longer alive then [sic] I still represent him."
